A Tour of Michigan: Captured in Oils

I was lucky enough to take a tour of Michigan where I grew up with my lovely spouse! We spent two weeks touring both the lower and the upper peninsula. There are both National Parks and National Lakeshores in Michigan, and I decided some of their beauty needed to be captured in oils.

Miners Falls

This is Miners Falls, one of the tallest and most beautiful falls located in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The water drops about 50 feet over a sandstone ledge.

After we visited the National Lakeshore, I decided to paint the falls from memory.

I presented the final painting to a friend who lives in the area.

  1. Thanks, Walt! Sorry this reply is REALLY late. The site isn’t notifying me of comments for some reason!
