A Donation for Jub Jam and a Great Cause

The Donation

This past April, Larry Gekiere – Artist donated a custom 12″ by 16″ oil portrait to the 2019 Jub Jam auction and was very happy to do so, since the cause that the Jub Jam supports is one close to his heart.

Jub Jam

What is Jub Jam exactly? It is a fabulous music event and charity auction benefiting a terrific cause – The Senior Source. Jub Jam was created by George Dunham, a local radio personality here in DFW, in response to his experience with caring for his ailing parents and seeing the situations of other fragile elderly people. George, who has a loyal following for his 1310 AM The Ticket show, has been nicknamed “Jub” by his co-hosts and his listeners.

The Senior Source

The Senior Source is a marvelous organization that supports senior citizens in many ways, providing access to healthcare, transportation, companionship, and advice. After his experience with his own parents, Jub did his research and chose to support The Senior Source in his own unique way.

The Jam

The eighth annual Jub Jam took place on Friday, April 12th, to a sold-out crowd at the South Side Music Hall at Gilley’s, including acts like The Gordon Keith Band and Kylie Rae Harris as well as Jub’s own band The Bird Dogs, and special surprise musical guest Troy Aikman.

Since its first year, Jub Jam has raised nearly a half million dollars for The Senior Source. The event outgrew its prior home at The Kessler Theater and filled the larger South Side Ballroom at Gilley’s.
