Motivational painting? Yes, actually, I was asked to create one of my custom oil paintings from a very unique photograph. This story just goes to prove that almost any moment or event in your life can make an impact and be captured in oil on canvas.
The Photo and the Story
A group of tourists was struggling to climb a steep cobbled hill to a tourist site in Mexico City. They were really having trouble getting up this hill, none of them being spring chickens. Then they watched, a bit mortified, as a woman using a cane, clearly much older than all of them, passed them on the road.
One of the group took a photo to remember the moment. Later, he would ask me to reproduce that photo in oil on canvas.
The Little Lady That Could
The painting I created from that photograph was presented as a motivational gift from son to father. I like to call it “The Little Lady That Could” – because, of course! But this story shows how an every day moment can be captured in a custom oil painting and become a unique gift.
Lumen, Remembered in a Custom Oil Painting
This is Lumen. Lumen was a beloved companion of a young man who desperately wants to memorialize his dear friend. So I am going to use this wonderful photograph to attempt to capture the love between these two on canvas with oil paint. Memorial portraits like this are my most fulfilling commissions.
